Antique 19th Century French Glass Apothecary Jars, Set of 2
Set of two antique 19th Century French apothecary jars, retaining their original Latin labels, "Pulv. Ipecac. R." and "Alumen Exsic". These jars are wonderful decorative, historical, and functional pieces. Ipecacuanha was derived from a Brazilian root and was used as a stomach tonic for ailments such as dysentery. Alumen Exsicatum was a powerful caustic used to remove unwanted or diseased tissue.
